Zep Distribution has been in the process of updating all Safety Data Sheets (formerly known as Material Safety Data Sheets) for all chemical products to comply with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification (GHS). These modifications to the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) are being mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and will allow for an internationally standardized approach to hazard communication and classification.
Based on where Zep Distribution's products are sold (Household consumers and Institutional & Industrial customers), package sizes 5 gallons or less will remain labeled under the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) label guidelines. These chemical products meet the OSHA Regulation 29CFR1910.1200 (b) exemption. Chemical package sizes greater than 5 gallons, will transition to the GHS label format for Institutional & Industrial professional end users. All GHS labeled product will ship with a green GHS sticker on the case. Click Here to Learn about CPSC vs OSHA GHS formatted labels. All chemical products will have the new OSHA GHS formatted SDS beginning June 1, 2015.
